Aya of Strawberry Koi recently posted these beautiful photos of her wearing the Adorevintage 1950s "Papillon De Nuit" Dress and of course I had to share! I just adore how she paired it with the little beaded collar and kept everything else classic and basic with sheer black tights and little black heels. J'adore!

A couple weeks ago mon chou and I went to a flea market as we do on most Sundays. On this particular Sunday the vintage finds were pretty slim, but I did pick up a couple vintage sewing notions that I thought were really sweet. And surprisingly it is much more cost effective to purchase vintage sewing supplies than it is to purchase them brand new.

I got everything for about $5, not bad eh? I love the needle book especially and the little pincushion which is infused with lavender. You can't really smell the lavender anymore as it's an old pincushion, but I adore the sentiment. I wonder about the little lady that crafted this pincushion... that's a lot of thought and love going into it to add lavender inside, don't you think?

Once upon a time I wanted to be a ballerina. When I first moved to this country I had never even heard of ballet and so on my first field trip during the Christmas holidays I was introduced to ballet when we attended "The Nutcracker" performed by the local ballet company.

It was love at first sight! By January I was enrolled to take ballet, jazz, lyrical, and tap. But my first love was ballet... and these beautiful photo collection from the LIFE Archives entitled "Ballet Boom, 1965" by photographer Gjon Mili, just have me reminiscing over my days in the dance studio trying to perfect my pirouettes, improve my arches, and practice practice practice till perfect.

In the rehearsal photos in the studio you can see George Balanchine, ballet master and founder of the New York City Ballet. Images are all from LIFE Archives and originally spotted on Good Night, Day in the blog post Ballet Boom, NY 1965.

Found these lovely images by photographer Cece Young and naturally I had to share them! The Russian model looks like a doll to me and I just love how crisp and clean and a bit cool these photos are.

The weekend was really crazy, I still feel like I need just another day of sleep. But, I'm a workaholic who happens to really love both the things I do, so, no rest for this little busy bee. I've been feeling a bit under the weather and perhaps that's because mornings in LA are 45F and by mid afternoon it's 75F and the constant weather shifts really creates havoc with my immune system.

A Vintage Outfit Post: Monday Frumpday A Vintage Outfit Post: Monday Frumpday

I've taken to wearing different layers when the weather is like this. Just never know if I'm going to be freezing or burning up. I have quite a few long maxi skirts I've thrifted that I turn to when I'm feeling the frumps. Add a baggy slouchy sweater and a vintage hat to hide "I couldn't be bothered" ponytail...and ta-da!

I went straight to the studio last night and got to mending some dresses. I really wish I was faster at this stuff, but it took me an hour just to mend three little things. I hand stitch of course because you just can't machine sew small seam repairs, I just wish I were faster! But, anyhow, it's so nice hanging out in my little place. I got take-out curry, put Pandora on "GLEE" station, and just mended, steamed, and prepped new vintage for the shop this weekend humming all the while.

Oh, I forgot to mention, I purchased a new addition for the atelier! I was going to get one of these vintage beauties from the prettiest antique mall ever, but we had stopped by the Long Beach Flea Market and I spotted this totally rad industrial lockers from a workshop...so not school lockers... but this big rust brown lockers with three big doors and lots of little shelves inside (perfect for supplies!) and little drawers painted in a lovely seafoam green. I was guarding it since so many people kept inquiring about it. "No, please don't buy it, I'm waiting for a nod of approval from mon chou!" But, yay, I got it! And for such a steal too! I'll post photos once it's safe and sound in my atelier. It's kind of a cumbersome piece, so we couldn't exactly just take it and go.
Came across this pretty rad website Society 6 where you can purchase art prints from thousands of different artists OR have their prints skinned for your iPad, iPhone, iPod, etc... Needless to say, I am kind of freaking out over these vintage camera iPhone cases.

I really need to upgrade to a 4G, but can't until summer. *le sigh* The prices are super affordable too! About $35 for an iPhone case. J'adore!
